Bill In Illinois General Assembly

  • Senate Bill 3645 and House Bill 5226 (identical to each other):  Illinois General Assembly - Bill Status for SB3645 (ilga.gov)
  • Requires Illinois public schools to test every five years and mitigate any high levels.
  • Allows schools to use IEMA trained staff to do the first “screening test”.
  • If tests high, schools then use licensed tester to verify findings.
  • If still testing high, requires mitigation within two years.

Contact you Legislators and ask him/her to support the bill.

  9. …and say: (regardless of voice mail or human answering the phone): “I live in Senator XXXX’S district and would like him/her to co-sponsor the Tenant Radon Protection Act SB 3645. It protects children and school staff from radioactive radon.” Follow any instructions they give.

    “I live in Representative XXXX’S district and would like him/her to co-sponsor the Tenant Radon Protection Act HB 5226. It protects school children and staff from radioactive radon.”

    Follow any instructions they give.

    If they give you an email address to send them info, send that Legislator’s name and email address to

    [email protected] and he will send them a Fact Sheet.

    If you own a  business with a different address, repeat this process for that address.
